Hello my name is Greta I am 22 years old and from New Zealand. I thought as cliche as it is that I would start to write a blog to document my travels for myself to look back on but also to share any information I learn along the way. Reading travels blogs have been my biggest help when planning all my travels so I would love to contribute to the traveling community.
Anyway a little about myself. I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. I finished school and rushed straight to university as that was what everyone was doing and I felt I had no other plans. I studied design for two years before dropping out to work full time as I did not really enjoy university. I worked in property for two years, I had a great bunch of friends through work and it helped me a lot to save but I knew that the property industry was not for me but I couldn’t quite figure out what was. I managed to save up enough money to go travelling for hopefully over a year we will have to see how that goes, who knows I may run out of money in 3 months.
I only figured out I really wanted to travel about a year ago after religiously watching sailing la Vagabonde on youtube and I was set that I was going to buy a sailing boat like them and sail the world even though I have literally never set foot on a sailing boat in my life, nor did I actually look into the costs of the whole thing I was a little bit out of my depth but I am a dreamer. After that my heart was set on travel and that was all I have been able to think about ever since. All the places I want to visit all the food I would like to try and hopefully emerge myself in a range of different cultures. Travelling just felt like it was the right path for me and hopefully I will figure out what I would like to do in life through travelling as I really have no future plans.
So writing this right now 13th April I am writing from Ubud, Bali which is my first stop on my solo travels. I will be in Bali for one month, I then may head over to Lombok and the Phillipines for the next three weeks before travelling to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur where I will meet my boyfriend sam and we will travel together to Sri lanka.
After Sri Lanka is where all the big plans start, this will help make sense to the logo etc. We will arrive in England in the middle of June and we have a month and a half to buy a Land Rover defender and set it up to be a full time camper. Crazy I know I laughed at the idea at first but I finally came around to it after seeing all the possibilities of travels that having our own camper could give us. You may ask why not just get a standard van like everybody else? Well Sam has been a land rover enthusiast for years and I don’t think there was any chance in getting any other vehicle besides they are the most amazing looking cars. Being 4 wheel drive also gives us the opportunity to travel Morocco and eventually one day Africa or Asia we just have endless possibility’s in a car like this. I have heard that they break down a lot but I guess that is just going to be part of it and we are in no rush we will work it out as we go.
So anyway our current plans are to be in France for August Spain for September, Portugal and Italy for October then Morocco for November. We will then travel north to Switzerland Germany and Sweden for the winter before covering the rest of Europe when it warms up again. Our plans are obviously very loose at this point as you can only plan so much. Im super excited about what the future holds for us and to keep a blog of every place we travel too which hopefully will be helpful to other travellers looking to travel to similar places.
